CCXL. November

Tomorrow, on November 1st, Gardens of Hecate will be seven years old. Thank you all for your attention and feedback throughout the year! I celebrated by converting and painting some creatures of the night for my AoS28 collection.

A Vampire and a Mordant Courtier.

Both conversions are based on Chaos Furies from Warcry. I love those sculpts. The neck frills are from the big chaos chickens, also from Warcry. The vampire's face comes from The Grymwatch, the new Flesh-eater Courts warband for Warhammer Underworlds. The Mordant's face is from a Slaanesh Daemonette (with fangs and new ears). I have a bunch of new ghouls in the works; these guys need some loyal subjects.

That's all for tonight. Happy Halloween!

  4. Wonderful pieces as always, but more in the spirit of the anniversary: all hail! I think that I'm not alone in the sentiment that this blog has been a strong inspiration to be stronger in vision and not shy any methods to present the gamescape as we see it in our mind's eye, and to put atmosphere above all. This is what it is all about. Thank you for the reminder!

  8. Happy Birthday! :)

The frills work on those Furies amazingly well. I think I need to get a few more so I can mess with them like this.

It's hard to tell, but it looks like the Mordant doesn't have arms. Did you make her with just four limbs (legs and wings) instead of the usual six?

    1. Thank you! Yes, I removed the arms on the Mordant. I needed to do some green stuff repair on the area afterwards, to make the wings look natural in absence of the arms.

  9. Not much to say other than congratz on 7 years of originality. It's been a pleasure to follow along, and I always look forward to what's next.

  11. These are very nice. I like seeing a take on vampires that is not just European Nobility, etc. The lack of traditional arms on the Courier is really nice too, giving her more of a bat vibe.

Also, it is an impressive accomplishment to have been running your blog for 7 years. Particularly since it burst into the scene with such a fully-formed vision.
