CXLIX. Shadespire: Steelheart's Champions

The final member of my Shadespire warband is finished, so here we finally have the complete Steelheart's Champions:

Severin Steelheart is the leader of the warband, and I wanted this to show on my model as well as it does on the original. When sculpting his helmet and chest armour, I borrowed heavily from the design of the Iudex Gundyr character (Dark Souls III).

The original Steelheart.
An early stage of converting.
This was captured not long before painting began. As before, the blue is the original model, the grey is other plastic bits and green/yellow is putty.

The Monster Competition at Ex Profundis reached its conclusion today as the results were announced on the blog. You can see the post with the winning entries here: LINK.  The winner is Surtep by Jan Warnke, while my Prince Arpad the Depraved took third place.

  2. I'm afraid there's little else to say here than this is all great really !
The balance between keeping the characters recognisable and yet so personnal is just impressive. A real lesson to push ourselves into doing things right.

  3. These have been a real treat to watch develop. This is my favourite of the three, you have a real eye for conversion. Majestic work.

  4. Since my most hated race in gaming is Stormcasts, i refused to buy starter for Shadespire because of them. But if they looked like your conversion - it would be instabuy for me.

  5. Your conversions are the reason I bought Shadespire to try emulate theme. Great Dark Souls/Berserk vibe!

  11. Looking great Ana.

It was a good move to keep the sculpted abs on his armour as this helps tie him in with Angharad and differentiate him from Obryn as well as helping to point out he's the leader of the group and draw focus to him. Not that you really needed this little detail to achieve these things as your work on this group is just that good but it is a nice visual cue.

Thanks for that link by the way and congratulations. Just more top stuff from top artists!

  12. Really great - love the look of these, there's an almost undead vibe which is fantastic. You've captured Index Gundyr really well too, brilliant.

  16. I haven't been visiting your blog recently and turns out I missed a lot. These look fantastic and even before reading the entry I immediately realized the model was inspired by Iudex Gundyr. I don't really like these new AoS-WH40k minis from GW but you make them look amazng!
